Our mission
Globally, Bears in Mind supports and initiates projects to protect bears in the wild and help captive bears in need.
Bears in Mind uses its knowledge, expertise and financial resources to protect bears (and their habitat) in the wild, and bears in captivity. The foundation works together with local organizations, universities and governments on projects focusing on nature conservation, captive bear welfare, education & awareness. The conservation of the bear’s habitat (focus bear species are: Brown bear, Sloth bear, Andean bear, Sun bear, Asiatic black bear) also includes other (threatened) animal species that share the same habitat.
Bears in Mind initiated the Bear Forest in Ouwehand Zoo in The Netherlands, a sanctuary for abused and traumatized bears where they get a second chance to be bear again.
